That was pretty forward of me, let me explain

My name is Will, and I'm in my final year (😢) here at the UW. The last three years have been fantastic, and I've met so many wonderful people. But if there's one thing I've learned it's that this school is huge. There's got to be a few incredible people I've yet to meet amongst all 46,165 of you. I'd love to connect with and learn from you before I have to go join the boring real world.

One of the biggest realizations I've had when reflecting on my college experience is that I have learned so much more from my friends than I have from any class. I also love sharing stories, especially with new people who are passionate about things I haven't even considered, whether it be video games, horses, street wear, or presidential libraries. So, this is a social experiment to fill my time left sharing stories over tea with new, awesome people.

If you want to make sure I am who I say I am you can find me on those social media sites that all the “cool” kids stopped using years ago: facebook, twitter, linkedin, instagram, snapchat.

You, probably: “Okay, but why would I want to do this?”

Great question, here are some reasons:

  • You get an excuse to be indoors in the dreary weather
  • It'll feel like you're being productive so you can go home and binge Netflix without guilt
  • You might see a dog on your walk over
  • You can distract yourself from the dumpster fire in today's newstories
  • You get to tell me all about the drama between your friends
  • You can talk about yourself and its not an interview
  • You get to drink Tea! Tea is great
  • You like sharing stories
  • Why not? 😊

Answers to your questions

Where are we going to go?

Probably Cafe Allegro or Solstice or Cafe on the Ave or Tea Republik or that fancy new Starbucks in Suzzallo (if you want to spend the whole time waiting in line). Or if you want Bubble Tea we can go to Sharetea!

How long is this?

However long you want to stay!

What are we going to talk about?

Whatever you want. Here are some ideas I came up with:

  • Seattle's weather
  • what the best mediterranean or vietnamese food on the ave is
  • how Snap Map is pretty creepy but also kind of cool
  • the best coffee drink
  • or, why coffee sucks
  • the best city in the U.S. (hint: it's New York)
  • whether Seattle actually has good coffee or if it's actually just all Starbucks
  • politics in the U.S.
  • esports
  • the best cocktail bar in Seattle
  • startups
  • what the best Boundless meme is
  • Why student athletes should be paid
  • game theory
  • celebrity sightings
  • late night comedies
  • Game of Thrones
  • VR/AR
  • biographies
  • dogs vs. cat (hint: 🐶 > 🐱)
  • Machine learning or artificial intelligence
  • Oprah's speech at the Golden Globes
  • whether its weird to use an umbrella in Seattle
  • healthcare policy
  • How college is designed to churn out engineers for those alumni $
  • the new research indicating Facebook is destroying our minds
  • the future of the study of philosophy
  • online community vs. offline community
  • Plato's Republic
  • data journalism
  • Uber vs. Lyft
  • Gerrymandering
  • How awful the travel neck pillow is
  • Calendaring, time management, or why it's ruining our lives

I can't wait to learn about what you're passionate about!

Wait, didn't someone do exactly the same thing 4 years ago?

Yep! This idea is inspired by a project my friend Ankit started 4 years ago during his final year at U Penn that grew into a national movement. Check out his TEDx talk, he's awesome.

I have another, different question
